building and involvement in church programs
is assumed to be the evidence of a person’s
conversion and the gauge of a person’s
level of spirituality rather than conformity
to the image of Christ in personal conduct,
conversations, and lifestyle. And because
personal holiness is downplayed in church
life, those who desire to live godly in Christ
Jesus and desire godly fellowship are
discouraged rather than edified when they
attend many of today’s churches.
