should be performing for one another and

entertaining each other in church life.

Christians must still contend with our old

sinful natures, and the praise and adulation

received from performances can become

the motivation for performing rather than

for the glory of God. And it doesn’t take

children long to figure out also that there is

a lot of pleasure in the applause and

attention that a performance elicits from an

audience. Also, many parents are guilty of

bathing in personal pride when their children

perform.

But Scripture does not support performances

and/or entertainment-oriented programs in

church life. Jesus said in Matthew 21:13,

“My house shall be called the house of
