science and skills. Because science comes from knowledge
(skills) then the two are grouped into one, so the knowledge
learned in Minang customs is all the knowledge that exists in
nature, both natural, social, aesthetic sciences including skills
related to these sciences. As the following proverb:
Panakiakknifesirauik,
take the polelintawaste,
silodang ambiak you niru.
Nan satitiak make a side dish,
who knows how to make mountains,
69
nature takambang be a teacher.
The proverb above shows that nature is a hidden treasure
trove of knowledge. The speck turns into the sea, the fist turns
into a mountain, meaning that even though the knowledge has
only been discovered a little, but the work must be continued
politely into a mountain. Therefore, customs encourage people
to study the knowledge contained in nature and develop every
knowledge they have. In accordance with the word of God in
the letter Ar Ra'd verse 3:
69 Idrus Hakimy, Mustika Series, p. 22, which means: Climb the blade
of the siraut, take the lintabung pole, take the silodang to niru, the drop turns
into the sea, the fist turns into a mountain, nature develops into a teacher.
