two factors that make individual differences. Supporters of
this theory include: Ki Hajar Dewantara, according to
which human development is determined by nature and
teaching (nurture).
a. Islamic View: Islamic Convergence School
Islam believes that every student who is
born into this world is not a blank paper without
potential as John Locke's tabularasa theory. But in
the child, God has provided the potential, namely
the basic strength that is ready to be developed.
There is a difference between Islam and
empiricism, Islam believes that every child born
into this world is pure and clean, but pure clean in
this case does not mean empty but filled with basic
potentials called fitrah. When compared with the
theory of empiricism, John Locke argues that a
child is born without bringing anything, he is just
like a blank white paper. Therefore, this school
tends to place the role of educators as very
dominant and decisive.
In the convergence flow, it is believed that
the success of education is determined by the shared
responsibility between educators and students.
