C. Educational Foundation

The foundation or basis of education is the foundation of
the existence of an educational institution. The foundation of an

educational institution is largely determined by the view of life of

the community or group of adherents. According to Abu Ahmadi
and Nur Uhbiyati:

The basis of education is a very principal foundation of a
goal and implementation of education, therefore both the

basis and the goal must be clear and both work. Humans
are said to be good if they have the nature, character and

outlook on life and ideals in accordance with the

philosophy of life of the nation and state.
If a society adheres to a liberal view of life, then the basis

of education is adjusted to the view of life or beliefs held by that
society, namely liberalism. Likewise, people who have a view of

life based on Islamic teachings, then the basis of education is in
accordance with the beliefs held by that community, namely Islam,

or the Minang community which bases its view of life on the

understanding of the unification of two teachings, namely Islam
and adat.
