The second discovery device is interrogatories under Rule 33. These

are written questions, answered in writing under oath. They can be sent only
to parties, and not to non-parties. The party has 30 days in which to respond,

so one rarely finds a çsmoking guné in interrogatories. Still, they are useful

to discover background information and to force the other party to give details
about her claims or defenses.
