6. Take a step to the left with your left foot. Make sure that
your step is wide enough so that your foot is on the outside
of your perceived target’s outermost foot. Adjust your right
foot to bring yourself back into your neutral stance.
7. To add challenge to this exercise, throw a left hook as you
step to the left to inhibit your perceived target from
escaping.
8. Once your left foot steps to the outside of your perceived
target’s outermost foot, maintain control within the
quadrant by pivoting on your rear foot to facilitate your lead
foot lining up with your perceived target’s center line. In
other words, you want to make sure that your lead foot is
splitting your perceived target into two equal halves.
9. Practice cutting off the ring by alternating steps to the
right and left. After each step, try to pivot on your rear foot,
making sure that your lead foot maintains a position that
splits your perceived target into two equal halves.
