Pivoting involves movement along the transverse
plane. This movement is especially useful when

trying to redirect an opposing force through changes
in the direction you are facing.

                1. Push off your lead foot to generate momentum in your

rear foot as you rotate 90 degrees on the ball of your rear
                foot.

                2. Next, push off your rear foot to generate momentum in
your lead foot as you rotate 90 degrees on the ball of your
lead foot. Both the degree and direction of your pivot may

vary depending on your preference and on the situation.

                3. Practice pivoting in both directions as well as switching
between each foot used to push off and generate
                momentum.

                                                CLOCKWISE

Circling around the ring is one approach of retreating
                and creating space.
