Pivoting involves movement along the transverse
plane. This movement is especially useful when
trying to redirect an opposing force through changes
in the direction you are facing.
1. Push off your lead foot to generate momentum in your
rear foot as you rotate 90 degrees on the ball of your rear
foot.
2. Next, push off your rear foot to generate momentum in
your lead foot as you rotate 90 degrees on the ball of your
lead foot. Both the degree and direction of your pivot may
vary depending on your preference and on the situation.
3. Practice pivoting in both directions as well as switching
between each foot used to push off and generate
momentum.
