1. Starting in your boxing stance, take a step laterally in the
direction of your lead foot. Keep your rear foot in its original
position. As you step off, extend your cross.
2. Retract your cross as you push off your lead foot to return
it back to its starting position.
3. As you push off your lead foot, throw a lead hook that
connects with its target at the same time your lead foot
returns to its original starting position.
Note: For extra practice, combine this move with Jab and
Rear Uppercut with Rear Step Off (page 21).
PENDULUM STEP—FORWARD AND
BACKWARD (ORTHODOX)
The aim of this exercise is to keep your entire body
weight over a designated point, a perceived “X,” by
leaning on the foot that stands on the designated
center point.
