initiating to advance an attack, keeps the level of stability
required to maintain balance and a strong defense.

One of the best ways to ensure that you maintain balance

and stability is to be aware of your center of gravity. Be
mindful of where your hips are in relation to your feet.
Standing in neutral stance, notice that your hips should be

between both feet. Self-check to make sure that you are not
leaning too far forward or too far backward. A clear indicator
that you are leaning too far forward is when you can lift your
rear foot off the floor while standing in neutral stance. That
indicates that all your weight is shifted over the lead foot.

Conversely, leaning too far backward occurs when you can
lift your lead foot off the floor while standing in neutral
stance. This indicates that all your weight is shifted over the

rear foot. Leaning too far forward or backward makes you
susceptible to getting pushed over by a target whose center
of gravity is kept in control. If you lean too far forward, you
also face a higher chance of getting counterpunched, and if
you lean too far backward, you may find it difficult to

counter, as you may not be within punching range.

You can practice the following drills with a partner to
develop balance and stability, which is especially difficult to
                maintain when moving around.
