The less competition there is, the more your chances of
having a successful product or service.
Firstly, consider what you think is your target market for
your launch. Usually at the start of the process people
always say, “everybody is my targeted customer”. This is
too wide a lens to focus on and will always have high
levels of competition.
Here is a good example of a niche target market. Let's
use a food product example.
People interested in accessing organic foods from
organic farmers, via their mobiles. Or, organic food
markets for males and females between the ages of 13
and 80, based in the Netherlands, delivered to homes
where its dwellers are interested in sustainability,
including recycled plastic packaging and pest-free, cost-
effective organic foods.
Here is a great example of how to identify your target
niche market.
Take out the word “everybody” in the sentence of
everybody is my target market and start by breaking it
down into a submarket first, using an example of food.
