the middle of his meal, then on the first day [he must stop]; since the first day is a
Torah obligation and he began eating when it was forbidden to do so. He must stop
eating even though there is plenty of time left in the day; as is the halacha regarding

any Torah obligation that if one began eating when it was forbidden, he must stop.
On the other days, however, [since] the obligation is only rabbinic, if there is enough

One who is weak and can’t wait that long, may have a snack before, because it is only
regarding eating [a meal] that we make a decree [against eating] lest he forget, but

this does not apply to a small snack. However, one who is not weak, should be
stringent and avoid even a snack. 74
