are at the mercy of such persons or systems. No! You are your own responsibility. You
should primarily take responsibility for your life; the government, your family and
friends can simply complement your efforts.
When you think the government or someone is responsible for giving you a job, there is a
tendency to expect too much. The government statutorily owe you a job, and may
provide one, but it is at its own convenient time and subject to available vacancies. The
government is overwhelmed, helpless, and unable to deal with skyrocketing
unemployment figures because of population increase. More so, consequent to
fast-pacing advancements in science and technology, computers and robotics are taking
over the few jobs available, leading to more job cuts. Employers are downsizing because
businesses are becoming unsustainable due to economic hardships. There are verifiable
facts that the job space is continually shrinking. It is evident that anyone owing you a job
or has promised one may encounter a few challenges in conveniently making good such
promise. This is a reality you must face, and it can be frustrating. Instead of putting all
your eggs in one basket, it is better to take your destiny in your hands and look out for
what you can do for yourself. Knowing your fate is in your hands will help you brace up
for whatever challenge that may come your way. It will help you take charge of your life
and be responsible. You need this type of mindset right from college. Do not live in mere
illusion. If nobody owes you a guaranteed job, then, equipping yourself with the requisite
skills and a mindset to make something happen for yourself after school becomes
necessary. It is about the best thing you can do for yourself.
