                                             WHY YOU NEED A JOB

You need a job as a source of income to meet your basic needs: food, clothing, and

shelter. You also have a responsibility to your family and other dependents, and you

cannot shy away from it. Among others, these are the reasons you need an income. Even
if you are still living under someone’s roof and you are well catered for, it still feels good

to have your own source of income. It gives you the freedom to spend money and buy
whatever you want without asking for someone’s approval. You need a job to earn an

income that will guarantee your financial freedom.

Apart from the financial freedom that comes with having a job, there is the issue of

dignity. You command respect of family and friends when you wake up every morning
and go to work. People will not see you as a pest, an indolent person or a ‘lay-about’

doing nothing but wake, eat and sleep. People start treating you differently when you
have a noble work that takes you out of the house every working day and put money in

your pocket. Somehow, having a job gives you the confidence and courage to keep your
head high in the family, among your friends and peers. It gives you voice, dignity, and

respect. Nobody will send you on an unworthy errand or ask you to do dirty chores!

Having a job is your dream come true. That is what you wanted. It was the reason you

went to school or became an apprentice. It was the reason you endured all the pain and

came all the way. You need a job to finally assuage your desires and fulfil your
expectations. It is like the end of your long journey through school or the period you

spent learning a trade. You need a job to give you a sense of satisfaction and a worthy
reward for all the painful years of study or learning an art.

More so, you need a job to keep up your skills and continually sharpen your expertise.

Having a job where you can practice what you learnt in school or in a trade helps you

improve and master the art very well. If you do not have a job or where to practice your
profession, you may be outdated, out of form, and possibly unable to fit in the trends of

professional advancements in your career. There are some professions like Medical
science, Computer science and Electronics engineering where things change every day
