So The King’s School started in September 1984. It was very exciting to see all
the children coming in their new uniforms. The Infants had the top floor so they
had to climb lots of stairs. There were: -
6 children in YR
+11 children in Y1 and Y2

Total 77 children, up to the age of 13
Mr. Freeman was the headmaster. God faithfully provided the money for all that
we needed.
4. Everything went well for a year, but then we received a letter telling us that we
were to leave Merryfield House. Where were we to go?
Someone rang us up and offered us the Scouts’ huts in Bampton, so we packed up
the School and moved everything to Bampton. Unfortunately, other people used
this building too, so we had to keep packing all the books and toys into cardboard
boxes. However, we were very grateful for the building.
Then one day we had a letter saying that we could not stay there anymore. Mr.
Freeman asked all the children to praise God and pray that God would change the
people’s minds. The same day as this special assembly, we had a phone call saying
that we could stay after all. What do you think everyone did then? (Everyone
praised God even more for answering our prayers!)
We spent a whole term at Bampton.
5. Then the Juniors and Seniors of TKS moved to The Wildlife Park near Burford.
But after one day, the Juniors and Seniors moved back to Merryfield House, and
the Infants went to North Leigh Memorial Hall. It was back to packing and
unpacking boxes because other people used the hall. There was no playground, so
we went across the road to an adventure playground, which was owned by the
village.
6. In the meantime God was speaking about us building our own school building. We
managed to buy the field that our school building stands on now, but at that time
there was no building on it. So some green wooden huts were put up by some of the
