Overview of Y2 Spring Term Part 1
                                               RECOGNISING WORDS

                There’s a time to learn new things and a time to consolidate.

                To review the half term’s work.


        Way to Work (Means)

              1.  Draw the following diagram on the board.









               It is a picture of our lives and of how we are always learning.  God teaches us
               something new then we have some time to practise it in our lives.  Then he adds to our

               learning and this is followed by more practising, and so on.  We do not learn new
               things all the time.  There’s a time to learn new things, and there is also a time to
               practise what we have been learning.

            2.  Give time to remember and to practise what has been learned over recent weeks.


            3.  Explain that our language has many different words in it, but they can be sorted into
               different sets or families.  Take time to review naming words, describing words and
               doing words and how to recognise them. Spread a mixture of such words on the floor

               and sort in turn under different headings, distinguished also by colour.

            4.  Review the two spelling rules.


              5.  Ask the children to complete the worksheet.    This could be used as an end of half
               term test.

        Learning for Life (Fulfilment)


            1.   The children will have consolidated all they have learned in recent lessons.
