Together, we prepare people for work.
COMPLAINT PROCEDURE
Employees who become aware of or are subjected to possible discrimination or harassment should
immediately notify their manager, Human Resources, or the Employee Concerns Line at 866-832-4557.
Goodwill-Easter Seals may ask that complaints be put in writing to facilitate the investigation process. In
addition, for employees who are comfortable doing so, telling the person who is engaging in
inappropriate behavior to stop is often the most effective way to end the objectionable behavior.
Goodwill-Easter Seals will take prompt action to investigate allegations of discrimination or harassment.
Based on its investigation, GESMN will take prompt and appropriate corrective action to ensure the
behavior stops and is prevented in the future. Any employee found to have engaged in discrimination,
harassment, or other prohibited conduct will be subject to appropriate discipline or other corrective
action, up to and including termination of employment. Appropriate steps will be taken if any non-
employee such as a vendor, supplier, customer, participant, donor, or board member is found to have
discriminated against or harassed any employee of GESMN.
Reports of discrimination or harassment will be kept confidential to the extent possible, consistent with
the need for a thorough investigation.
RETALIATION
Goodwill-Easter Seals will not retaliate or take any form of reprisal against any victim of, or witness to,
discrimination or harassment. Any such retaliation or reprisal by a GESMN employee is forbidden. Any
employee who retaliates against another employee or witness because of a complaint of discrimination
or harassment or because of participation in any investigation will be subject to discipline, up to and
including termination of employment.
AT-WILL EMPLOYMENT
The employment relationship at Goodwill-Easter Seals is at-will. This means that employment is not
guaranteed for any definite period and that either the employee or GESMN may terminate the
employment relationship at any time and for any reason, with or without notice. For related
information, see the Communications and Problem Solving and the Leaving Employment sections of this
handbook.
PREVENTION OF ABUSE OF PARTICIPANTS
Goodwill-Easter Seals employees are expected to protect the welfare of those who seek our services
(participants). All employees must protect any person actively enrolled in GESMN programs from abuse
and exploitation.
