               PROTECTION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY

Employees should protect their personal property by not leaving valuables unattended in their work
area and their vehicles. In retail stores and processing areas, personal belongings, including cell phones,
pagers, media players, USB devices, or other personal electronic devices, are not permitted at
workstations. Goodwill-Easter Seals is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property.

               INVESTIGATION OF THEFT

Goodwill-Easter Seals maintains a zero-tolerance approach to theft and/or misappropriation of goods or
assets. Theft is defined as the unauthorized removal, stashing, or use of organization property or
product, including products from the donations, salvage, or trash areas. Theft is also defined as the
removal of personal goods belonging to another employee, participant, volunteer, or customer.
Falsification of time records (electronic or written), expense reports, or purchase orders is also
               considered to be theft.

Employees directly involved in an investigation related to theft may be placed on administrative leave
pending further investigation. Employees found to have stolen from GESMN or another person at
GESMN will be terminated. Referral to law enforcement agencies may also occur.

               PACKAGE/LOCKER INSPECTIONS

All retail store purchases must be taken out of a store’s front entrance upon purchase or secured in a
bag (stapled shut with the receipt visible) and stored in the manager’s office until the employee,
participant, or volunteer leaves for the day.
If Goodwill-Easter Seals management or security staff have evidence indicating an employee has stolen
goods, weapons, or illegal substances, they may inspect the employees’ personal belongings (including
vehicles). These searches will take place with the employee's knowledge and consent. The employee
may request that a search is done in private.
