Together, we prepare people for work.
In the event an employee refuses to allow a member of management or security to inspect a package,
the employee will be placed on a paid administrative leave pending further investigation. If necessary,
investigations may involve cooperation with local law enforcement.
Employees are expected to immediately report anyone who has stolen or intends to take GESMN
property. This report will be kept confidential to the extent possible. Failure to report any information
on suspected theft could result in disciplinary action.
LOCKERS AT RETAIL LOCATIONS
Goodwill-Easter Seals retail stores and processing/distribution centers offer the use of lockers for
employees, participants, and volunteers to secure their belongings during their work shift. However,
GESMN does not accept liability for the personal belongings of employees, participants, and volunteers.
GESMN management or security personnel have the right to inspect an employee’s locker at any time.
All employees working a shift are issued a lock and key. Employees must return the lock and key to a
designated area at the end of each shift and remove all personal belongings from the locker.
At closing, a member of management will inspect lockers that have not been emptied. Personal
belongings left in lockers at the end of the day will be locked in the manager’s office — unclaimed items
will be disposed of after 30 days.
EMERGENCY CONDITIONS AND PROCEDURES
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Emergency procedures apply to incidents such as fire, serious injury, severe weather, bomb threats, and
utility emergencies. These procedures provide guidelines to ensure a calm, orderly, and efficient
transition from normal operations to emergency status. Managers review these procedures with their
employees.
Evacuation routes are posted throughout each facility and are located near exits/entrances and corridor
intersections.
REPORTING FOR WORK
Goodwill-Easter Seals expects employees to report to work for their regularly scheduled hours. When
emergencies occur that affect our operations, such as severe weather, loss of power, or flooding, several
communication channels are used to notify staff of an early dismissal, late start, or location closings.
Employees who are uncertain about reporting to work should contact their manager.
Emergency closings in the Twin Cities metro due to events such as snowstorms or loss of power are
announced on WCCO radio and TV. Employees may also call the St. Paul campus (Fairview Avenue
