Consistent with GESMN’s policies concerning the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and personal
leaves and Paid Time Off (PTO), employees who voluntarily self-identify themselves as having a drug or
alcohol problem and who voluntarily request assistance for their problem will be referred to our EAP,
where they can connect with a substance abuse professional for an evaluation and appropriate
counseling, treatment or rehabilitation programs if recommended.
PRESCRIPTION DRUGS
Any employee taking drugs prescribed by a health care provider, which an employee has been told could
affect their ability to perform the essential functions of their job, must inform their manager and/or
Human Resources so that appropriate precautions can be taken to ensure the employee’s safety as well
as the safety of their co-workers.
STORAGE OF MEDICATION
It is against Goodwill-Easter Seals policy to store medication (prescription and over-the-counter) in
common areas of the workplace, including refrigerators. If there are circumstances when you are
required to take medication during your scheduled work shift, contact your manager or Human
Resources so that arrangements can be made to accommodate your situation.
ADMINISTERING MEDICATION
Employees are prohibited from administering medication or assisting with medication for anyone
(participant or employee), even if asked to do so by the individual.

WORKING OTHER JOBS
Goodwill-Easter Seals employees may work at another place of employment while employed at GESMN.
However, the other position should not create a conflict of interest, which is detrimental to the
organization. Any potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed to the employee’s supervisor.
WORKPLACE SAFETY AND SECURITY
VIOLENCE-FREE WORKPLACE
Goodwill-Easter Seals does not tolerate acts of workplace violence committed by or against employees,
participants, board members, donors, vendors, customers, or suppliers and strictly prohibits employees
from making threats or engaging in violent acts. All employees who commit violent acts or who
