For retail and outstate locations, work closings will be determined by the Area Director and/or District
Manager.
PAY DURING EMERGENCY CONDITIONS
Employees who work in Goodwill-Easter Seals MN location and are informed that their work location is
closed for a weather-related emergency, i.e., snowstorm, extreme cold, etc., will be paid for the hours
they were scheduled to work that day, even if their shift has not yet started, up to a maximum of eight
hours.
If the work location is forced to close early because of a weather-related emergency, all employees who
are working at the time of closing will be paid for the time remaining in their scheduled shift, not to
exceed a total of eight hours, including hours already worked. If the work location needs to open late
because of a weather-related emergency, all employees scheduled to work during that time will be paid
for that time, including hours worked not to exceed 8 hours. An employee’s emergency close pay will be
reduced if it puts them in excess of 40 hours per week.
Goodwill-Easter Seals generally remains open during emergencies such as severe weather. If an
employee is unable to come to work while their work location remains open, the employee will not be
paid. Employees have the option of using accrued, unused Paid Time Off (PTO) for any working hours
missed or having their pay adjusted consistent with applicable laws.
MEDICAL EMERGENCIES AND FIRST AID
If immediate medical attention is needed at the St. Paul Campus, call 911 immediately, then employees
should notify a manager so that the 1050 Emergency Response team can be paged. In stores or satellite
office locations, employees should immediately notify a manager who will decide on calling 911.
POLICIES AND PRACTICES
APPEARANCE
As representatives of Goodwill-Easter Seals, employees are expected to be neatly dressed and groomed
and to present an appearance appropriate to the environment in which they work or visit. Employees
should also practice appropriate standards of workplace hygiene when reporting to work. Extremes of
dress, makeup, hairstyle/color, jewelry, piercings, body art, and accessories are not acceptable unless
approved by management.
