Vogelhuber, Scheelen - What people really want
are. Each type is attributed a typical motivational structure as
well as certain weaknesses and strengths and dominant
emotions. You will learn which these are in a moment. It is
also important to note that eight main types have been derived
from these four basic types in order to take account of the fact
that there are numerous mixed forms. Since the model
provides very practical help for everyday use in employee
management, personnel selection, sales and communication,
it has a high practical value.
Information for a quick overview
The INSIGHTS MDI® model speaks very clearly of the fire-red, sun-
yellow, earth-green and ice-blue types. It is important to note:
INSIGHTS MDI® "measures behavior and emotio- ns! It asks how we
do things. (...) It does not ask what we do and why we do it."
(Scheelen 2018, p. 35)
Let us therefore note for the first quick orientation:
• The fiery red type is dominant, extraverted and
demanding, he appears determined and strong-willed and
proceeds very fact- and goal-oriented and result-oriented.
He often appears very authoritarian towards other people.
The risk-taking fiery red is full of energy and finds
fulfillment in constant activity and willingness to act
(dominant type).
• The sunny yellow type is described in the model as
proactive, sociable and cheerful, open, persuasive and
eloquent. He has a positive charisma and strives to
establish good relationships with other people.
