D) Jury Duty
It is Purity Life’s policy to pay for one (1) day for jury selection.
E) Maternity/Parental Leave
Maternity/Parental Leave will be granted to expecting parents according to Provincial Regulations. Ask
your Human Resources Department for details. Employees on Maternity/Parental Leave will be asked to provide
a plan to cover the cost of benefit premiums for Long-Term Disability (LTD) in advance of their leave. All
employees must complete a Leave Form prior to their leave. Forms can be found on the Company’s Intranet site.
It is mandatory that the employee advise Purity Life HR within twenty-one (21) days of the birth of their child by
completing the form (Group Plan Change Form) located on the Company’s intranet site. This form will register your
child as a dependent under the Company Benefit Plan.
F) Job Abandonment
If you fail to report to work for three (3) consecutive shifts/days without notifying your Manager, you may be
deemed to have voluntarily terminated your employment or abandoned your job with Purity Life.
G) Background Checks
Purity Life requires all new and returning employees to undergo a background check. This process will look
into past police records and report on any significant criminal activity. Background checks are standard in our
industry and we’re committed to exercising our due diligence for the safety of our people and assets. Purity Life’s
background checks will be completed for any potential new-hires or re-hires.
H) Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free Workplace
Purity Life is committed to providing its employees with a safe and productive work environment. In keeping
with this commitment, it maintains a strict policy against the use of alcohol and the unlawful use of drugs in
the workplace. Consequently, no employee may consume or possess alcohol, or use, possess, sell, purchase
or transfer illegal drugs at any time while on Purity Life’s premises, in Company or personal vehicles while on
Company business, or at any time during work or while representing the Company in an official capacity on or
off Company premises. No employee may report to work with illegal drugs (or their metabolites) or alcohol in his
or her bodily system, or with the odor of alcohol or illegal drugs on his or her breath or body. “Illegal drug” means
any drug that is not legally obtainable. It includes prescription drugs not being used for prescribed purposes.
Employees prescribed narcotics are not permitted to operate any form of motorized vehicle (ie. lift trucks, order
pickers, etc.). Please advise your manager immediately.
The use of alcohol in moderation is permitted only at certain designated and approved Company-sponsored
events. This policy extends to guests as well as employees. At no time is alcohol to be consumed in the office
or warehouse if there is not a Company-sponsored and approved event taking place.
Employees who violate this policy may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination
of employment.
