AN ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION GOVERNING
PERSONAL USE OF CITY AUTOMOBILES
Section 1:
In accordance wi'th Internal .Revenue Service regulations, th& City
establishes the following policy for City employees who drive
non-exempt City vehicles for personal use:
a. Use of City vehicles for personal travel is not permitted ,
unless the employee has the permission of the City
Manager.
b. Personal use of City vehicles is limited to commuting to
and from the employee's work place. The value of the
commute wi ll be $1.50 per one-way ($3.00 ro~nd trip). If
more than one employeil comm~tes in the same vehicle, the
$1.50 figure is applied to each employee.
c. Employees who drive non-exempt City vehicles to Co11UDute
must complete the time sheets indicating the number of
vehicle days tha.t they are using t:he automobile (one
round trip equals one vehicle day).
d . rhe Payroll Technician will compute the vehicle days and
report the compensation on the employees' gross income.
e . See attached sheet to see what type of vehicles are
exempt from taxation reporting requirements.
