Page 11 - Come Fly with me-In progress
P. 11
I never earned my license, but It wasn’t that grandpa felt a girl shouldn’t
fly, because there were many great female pilots around him at Flabob, but
I made the decision that I didn’t want to get a license. I figured, with all of
these pilots around me I could always ask one of my brothers, Dad or
Grandpa, to take me wherever I wanted to go. I could probably fly just
from all the times I watched my brothers. I learned so much about planes
and flying that I figured I knew enough that, in an emergency, I could
probably safely land the plane.
My brothers, however, felt the need to take advantage of the fact that they
could fly and they would take me up in the planes and do whatever they
could to frighten me. They would go to high altitudes, put the plane into a
dive and wait much too long to recover from their stunts. It was scary but
at the same time exhilarating because I trusted them and figured they
wouldn't really do anything to hurt themselves or me.
