Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the exocrine glands.
In addition to the organic symptoms during SS, psychiatric disorders have been
reported with a significant impact on the quality of life. The purpose of this study
was to evaluate the degree of anxiety and depressive symptoms among SS Tunisian
                patients
                Matériels et méthodes :
Cross-sectional study collecting 25 patients followed for SS in the department of
internal medicine in Farhat Hached hospital. The diagnosis of SS was established
according to the 2016 ACR/EULAR classification criteria. Anxious and depressive
symptoms were assessed using the French version of the validated HADS scale
                (hospital anxiety and depression score).
                Résultat :
24 women and 1 man were included with a mean age at the time of diagnosis of 51
± 6 years. The SS was primitive in 6 cases. Sicca syndrome was found in 88% of
cases while extra glandular symptoms were found in 72% of cases. Joint
involvement was very common, found in 70% of cases. The activity of the disease
attested by the ESSDAI score was estimated to 10.6 ± 7. Anxiety symptoms were
observed in 15 patients (60%). These events were mild in 9 cases and severe in 6.
Depressive symptoms were observed in 12 patients (48%), being severe in 66.6%
                of the time.
                Conclusion :
Anxiety and depressive symptoms are common during SS and they can worsen the
quality of life of these patients.
