followers James and John saw him they said to him our Lord would you be willing
that we command fire to come down from heaven and consume them just as
Elijah did? He turned to them and said you do not know of what spirit you are.
The Son of man did not come to destroy lives but to save.
While they were on the journey, a man said to him my Lord I will follow you
wherever you go. Jesus said to him, foxes have holes and the birds of the air a
shelter but the Son of man has no place even to lay his head.
Another one said to him, I will follow you my Lord. Permit me first to entrust my
household to someone and then come. Jesus said to him No man who puts his
hand on the plough handle and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.
Another said to him my Lord permit me go and attend to my father until he dies
than I will follow you. Jesus said to him let the dead bury their own dead. You go
and preach the kingdom of God
Adulteress Nation
While they were going up on their way to Jerusalem Jesus was ahead of them.
They were amazed and they followed him with confident. Then he took his twelve
aside and said to them we are going up to Jerusalem and began to tell them
what was surely to happen to him. The Son of man will have to suffer a great
deal and be rejected by the Elders; the high priests and the scribes. They will
condemn him to death and deliver him to the Gentiles. They will mock him and
scourge him and spit in his face and be killed. On the third day, he will rise up.
This is written in the psalms and prophets concerning the Son of man that he will
suffer much and be rejected by this evil and adulteress nation. He spoke that
word openly. So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. Jesus said to
Peter you are not speaking the word of God but of men.
A Blind Man Healed
They passed through Jericho with his followers and a large crowd. A blind man
sat by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Galilee he
began to cry aloud. Oh, son of David have mercy on me. Many rebuked him and
told him to keep quiet but he cried out the more. Oh, son of David have mercy on
me. Then Jesus stopped and commanded to bring the blind man to him. They
went up to the blind man and said to him have courage rise up he is calling you.
