the God of Abraham; the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. God is not the God
of the dead but of the living. You therefore greatly err. When the people heard
this they were amazed at his teaching. Then the Sadducees left.

Pharisees Want a Sign

When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees. They gathered
together and enter the temple and drew near to Jesus to tempt him. They asked
him to show them a sign from heaven as the people were gathering to him. He
began by saying this wicked and adulterous generation wants a sign. No sign
shall be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Jonah was a sign to the
Ninevites so also will the Son of man be to this evil generation. The men of
Nineveh will rise up in judgment against this generation and condemn it. They
repented at the preaching of Jonah. A greater than Jonah is here. The queen of
the south will rise up in judgment with the men of this generation and condemn
them. She came from the far ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon.
A greater than Solomon is here. When it is evening you say it is clear for the sky
is red. In the morning you say it is a winter day the sky is red and cloudy. Oh
hypocrites you know how to observe the face of the sky but the signs of the
present time you are not able to understand.

David’s Lord

While the Pharisees were still gathered as he taught in the temple Jesus asked
them, what you say concerning the Christ. The Scribes say that Christ is the Son
of David? Whose son is he? They said to him son of David. He said to them how
it is then that David through the Holy Spirit calls him Lord. He said the Lord said
to my Lord set at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet as a foot
stool. Now therefore David himself calls him my Lord how then can he be his
son? No man was able to answer him.

Greatest Commandment

Then one of the scribes who knew the law came near and heard them debating
and he saw that Jesus gave them a good answers. He asked him teacher which
is the greatest commandment of all? Jesus said to him the first and greatest
commandment is the Lord our God is Lord. You must love the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul and with your entire mind and with all
your power. This is the first and greatest commandment. The Second is like it
you must love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment
