3.2 Risk Assessment
The business carries out suitable and sufficient risk assessment for all activities.
Risk assessments are carried out by trained members of the company with support where
necessary from the external health and safety advisor.
The finding of the risk assessments are recorded on standard templates.
Standard templates are provided for:-
• General workplace risk assessments
• Use of Hazardous Substances (CoSHH)
The findings of risk assessments are bought to the attention of the affected members of the
workforce (including temporary workers) by way of written procedures, method statements and
training/tool box talks
Risk assessments are reviewed whenever changes are made to arrangements or there is an
indication that updating is required (e.g. following an accident).
All risk assessments will be reviewed at least once a year and a note indicating update will be
made with the risk assessment.
Where risk assessments indicate that reasonably practicable steps can be made to reduce risk
factors an improvement plan will be implemented to reduce the dangers to the workforce.
Risk assessments will be undertaken for individuals with specific requirements including:-
• Young Persons
• Disabled Persons
• Expectant and Nursing Mothers
• Lone Workers
