3.6  Roles and Responsibilities


         The business ensures that all employees understand their personal responsibilities for health and
         safety matters by various training and briefing programs.

         The general duties of managers and staff are described elsewhere in this policy document  (Section
         2)  Specific duties are assigned in the same document.

         Training will be provided for all employees assigned specific responsibilities.

         The roles and responsibilities will be regularly reviewed (by the management team and company
         safety advisor) and amended where necessary.

         3.7  Training, awareness and competence.



         The business ensures that all employees receive appropriate information, instruction training and
         awareness to allow them to carry out their duties as competent individuals.
         A training matrix will be maintained to show all employees and their required training profile.

         Training will be provided by a mixture of methods including:-
           •   Direct instruction by a supervisor (on the job training)
           •   H&S induction training for all employees

           •   Classroom training – with external trainer
           •   Practical training – on site and offsite.
           •   E - learning

           •   Specialist training for specialist equipment
           •   Toolbox talks
           •   Informal instruction

           The level of training reflects the level of responsibility and exposure to risk.
