Ranhill SAJ Sdn. Bhd. Revision 01
Part C: Information Relating to the Safety Management System Date Aug 2019
Procedures are in place to verify that new, replacement or repaired equipment meets
the specifications and requirements of the facility. Appropriate controls are
implemented to ensure personnel safety when working on or near the plant and
equipment being tested, cleaned, serviced, repaired or altered.
Maintenance of the equipment is carried out by the M&E Section. The M&E Section
is under the responsibility of the Section Head. A Maintenance Executive, who
reports to the Section Head, is in charge of the eight districts. A dedicated
maintenance team for District of Segamat is responsible for the maintenance
activities at KT1 & KT2 WTP. The maintenance management system is documented
in the ISO 9001:2000 Operation Manual under Preventive Maintenance Procedure
(SAJ/OM/PEN/ME/01). The activities of the maintenance management system can
be grouped into:
• Planned Maintenance
- Preventive maintenance; and
- Scheduled maintenance.
• Unplanned Maintenance
- Breakdown maintenance; and
- Emergency maintenance.
• Verification and Calibration
A yearly planned maintenance schedule for equipment at the water treatment works
is prepared and used by the M&E Section. The schedule specifies the frequency of
maintenance for the different equipment. As part of the maintenance management
system, the M&E Section staff refers to a Planned Maintenance Job Card for the
equipment. The Job Card lists down the work to be carried out during the
maintenance. After completion of work, a record is made in the Job Card. The
completed Job Card is then filed at the maintenance office for future references.
Verification and calibration of electronic equipment is also scheduled. The chlorine
leak detector sensors are scheduled for calibration once every six (6) months and
the preventive maintenance for chlorine system and scrubber system is every three
(3) months.
Equipment registered with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health
(DOSH) in compliance with the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 are inspected
according to the required duration. These include pressure vessels and overhead
cranes.
