3-119 Do not perform tests on unguarded equipment unless personnel are
not in the area and precautionary measures are in place before the
                                       machinery is started.

3-120 Attempt to keep welding hoses and cables, ropes, air hoses and
water hoses out of walkways and stairways to prevent tripping
hazards. When not in use, always store the hoses to avoid creating a
                                       tripping hazard.

3-121 Use solvents in a well-ventilated area and store in an appropriate
container. Avoid prolonged contact with the skin. Use appropriate
                                       PPE.

3-122 Check your work area for hazards prior to beginning work and
immediately eliminate them if able to do so safely. Immediately
barricade and communicate any hazardous conditions that cannot be
safely eliminated to your supervisor. Document your workplace shift
                                       inspection observations and corrective actions.

3-123 Avoid working in extreme heat conditions for extended periods of
time without breaks. Take breaks and drink plenty of water to avoid
                                       heat stress.

3-124 Do not work in or adjacent to any excavation until a competent
person has examined the area and determined that no conditions
exist that will expose any persons to injury from moving ground.
Ensure that all walls and faces of all excavations/trenches that might
expose persons or equipment to danger from moving ground are
effectively guarded by a shoring system, sloping of the ground or
other equivalent means. If you create the excavation, then you are
                                       responsible for barricading the area.

3-125 Barricade areas whenever floor grating or handrails are removed for
any reasons. Replace floor grating and handrails as soon as
                                       possible.

3-126 Require all visitors, vendors, and contractors to check in and sign the
visitors’ log in the plant office. You must determine whether
site-specific hazard training is required by MSHA 30 CFR, Part 46 for
                                       these individuals.

3-127 Be sure that visitors, vendors, and contractors use the required
protective equipment, obey safety rules and obtain permission to
                                       enter the plant.

3-128 Secure all air hose connections with 3/4-inch internal diameter or
larger with a whip check cable or safety pin, unless equipped with a
                                       quick release device.

3-129 Do not operate machinery unless guards are in place.

3-130 Do not operate machinery in an unsafe manner.
