and doctorate degree should be encouraged to pursue their graduate studies in a reputable
institution 2) training programs should be designed, formulated and implemented to upgrade
teacher’s capability in the application of the child friendly school program 3) there’s a need of
formulation of strict policies in the application of teachers of the child friendly school program to
address the problems encountered by them 4) the proposed enhancement program to improve
the application of the skills of teachers in the child friendly school must be carried out 5) other
studies should be conducted to look into other aspects of level of practice of teachers of the child
friendly school program using more variables and in a wider scope.
IMPLEMENTATION OF BASIC GUIDANCE PRACTICES
IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

This study determined the extent of implementation of guidance practices of guidance
teachers in the public elementary schools of the Laoac District Division of Pangasinan II SY
2013-2014. Specifically, it sought to determine the following: 1) profile of the guidance teachers
in the public elementary schools in terms of age, sex, highest educational attainment, number
of years teaching, relevant trainings and religion; 2) extent of implementation of basic guidance
practices of guidance teacher; 3) significant relationship between the extent of implementation
of basic guidance practices and the selected profile variables.
The following are the salient findings: 1) majority of the respondents belong to age
bracket 31-40 years old, female, mostly with M.A. units, have 16 to 10 years as school teacher,
attended relevant trainings in the district level and Roman Catholic.
Their extent of implementation of basic guidance practices are individual inventory
service is 3.63 “functioning”, information service 3.57 “functioning”, counseling service 3.73
“functioning”, placement service 3.73 “functioning”, and follow-up service 3.75 “functioning”.
The overall weighted mean is “functioning”.
It was also found out that in terms of relationship between the implementation of basic
guidance practices and the selected variables number of years teaching, relevant trainings,
religion, there is no significant relationship between the extent of implementation of basic
guidance practices and the aforementioned profile variables.
In the light of the findings, the following conclusions were drawn which are deemed
essential: 1) the guidance teachers are relatively middle age female dominated, educationally
qualified, have average years of experience as school teacher, have relevant trainings; 2) the
guidance teachers possessed “functioning” extent of implementation of the basic guidance
practices along the areas of individual inventory services, information services, counseling
services, placement services and follow-up services; 3) there are no significant relationships’
between the extent of implementation of basic guidance practices and the selected variables.
