Hangul, the art of big resonance
“Do you know what Hangul is? Hangul
means 'big story'. 'Han' means 'big', 'gul'
has the meaning of 'echo, transmission,
message'. Everyone who uses Hangul
would become ‘big men’.”
The artist asks what Hangul would be. He explains Han means 'big,
broad, universal,' and the gul implies the meaning of 'echoing, trans-
mitting, healing'. So, therefore, in here, Hangul is the spirit and the
mind. It is not just a letter composed of consonants and vowels but
a big message that conveys the sincerity through people's thoughts,
voices, and stories. In that sense, Hangul creates huge resonance.
"It would not matter how well you speak or write but the writing
filled with truthfulness inspires people." says the artist, and it is the
meaning of his Hangul works. Just like your mind gets warm when
you say the words with heartfelt sincerity, such as, 'I like you or I
love you.', the artist Bo-sung Keum always puts his warm heart in
his work. It is the same message of comfort and healing in a huge
balloon in the breakwater. His Hangul work is spreading great
resonance.
