allurements in this sinful world. Regrettably,

this happened in my life to a limited degree.

In Old Testament times, God continually

attempted to isolate His people from the

influences of pagan cultures and pagan

practices in order to protect them from being

defiled, and He desires to protect New

Testament believers in that same way also.

Jesus’ prayer for believers in John 17:15 is

that they be kept from the evil in the world,

and to be kept from the evil in this world often

requires that Christians physically separate

themselves, if possible, from close associations

with ungodly and worldly people — and,

again, separation from those kinds of family

members is no exception.
