consequences for sin — not only in this
lifetime but also for all eternity for those who
are not saved — they try to express so-called
“unconditional love” to them by silently
tolerating, accepting, and even embracing
their sinful lifestyle. But Jesus, who is the
epitome of love, never downplayed sin nor
did He ever condone a sinful lifestyle by His
silent tolerance of sin or by His accepting
demeanor; rather, Jesus warned sinners that
“except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish”
(Luke 13:3 & 5).
Attempting to express so-called “unconditional
love” toward a family member by tolerating,
downplaying, or ignoring his or her sins in the
interest of family unity (or for any other
reason) is, in reality, extremely unloving and
