RESPONSE: HIGHLIGHTS OF 2016-17
We have an infinite responsibility to all things future. A well designed organization is flexible for
the future as well as fit for the present. It provides ways for a company to pursue innovation
and allows for adaptability to fast changing external economic environment. 2016-17 has been a
mixed bag for the Response function. It had its share of the peak revenue ever achieved by BCCL
in October and post November when demonetisation hit the Industry, our revenues slowed
down significantly. All crisis separates men from the boys and our Response team ensured that
BCCL not only retain its leadership position but also grows its market share in the turbulent
times. Team Response responded with speed and agility to increase their coverage of the
markets, meet clients, agencies and give them the confidence of spending with the leader to
retain their share of business in a tough market place. BCCL gained 3% in overall market share
and 5% in English market share.
The period also marked some structural changes to ensure sustainable growth
in years going forward:
Leadership Changes
We have made some senior leadership changes to bring more focus on geographies & align
portfolios to play on our strengths in line with changing market environment. We are now
actively focusing on gaining national leadership, focus on our prime markets, i.e. Mumbai, Delhi
NCR and Bangalore and special focus on all the South markets. We are a clear national
leader and for FY17-18, will have strategic focus on addressing local business as well to spread
our reach.
Efficiency & Speed
Our back-end is geared for speed & efficiency with use of automation and digital technology.
We have introduced payments for small ticket ads via e-wallets as well. A lot of internal
processes will soon see increased use of apps in push for speed and reducing the reaction time
to our customers.
Response Solutions
Our trade marketing arm, has been setup to promote engagement, innovation & power of
print among our channel partners. At the same time, it helps our business development team in
asserting our leadership and create custom solutions for clients. Several product innovations
have been monetized based on these efforts.
FY 17-18 is expected to be buoyant, we are geared up as a team to face both the regulatory
changes such as RERA, GST etc as well as the growing digital medium onslaught on the
advertising mediums.
