CAUTION
Be careful not to Butterfly in either forward or backward to the fully closed positions.
3) Watch the Butterfly Encoder display, as it is moving. Confirm that the “Oval” is alternating states. If not alternating or a
Butterfly Jam occurs, check Encoder input (X7 on PLC). Set the Butterfly Prox to .060 inches.
4) Jog the butterfly until the arms are straight out with equal backlash off center as you push the arms forward and
backwards. Confirm that the Butterfly Encoder Prox is pointing at the middle of the flat portion of the machined off teeth of
the gear. This is easier to view by confirming the the tooth that is 90° away from the missing tooth is aligned with and
centered over the threaded hole atop the gearbox. See image below for details.

Butterfly Home Proximity Switch Collar located inside Carriage Assembly
5) Verify Butterfly Home Proximity Switch. Jog the Butterfly motion keys to the straight out position (HOME position), and
then stop. From the INPUTS screen, confirm that in one direction, the Butterfly Proximity Switch is “ON” and when moved
in the opposite direction it is “OFF”.
From HOMING screen, press the Butterfly Home function key. If the Butterfly action moves away from Home position.
Press in the E-STOP. Rotate Proximity Switch Collar 180 (located in Carriage Assembly). Set the Butterfly Prox to .060
inches.
