Chapter 3 General Repairs
Top Wheel Troubleshooting
5) Verify that the top wheel is contacting both stops equally when it is in the up position. Sometimes
the top wheel will twist and one side will hit before the other. If the top wheel is twisted, loosen the
large bolts at each end of the round center pole that connects the top wheel to the wheel arm.
Then loosen one of the bearings that attach the wheels to the arms. Twist the frame to straighten
it. Retighten the bearing and center pole bolt. The components referenced in this step are shown
below.

6) Verify wheel penetration using the following:
Start the top wheel and lower it.
Using the fish scale supplied with the machine, verify the weight of the arm when it is
almost straight and it is running. The weight should be approximately 13 pounds.
Adjust the counterweights as necessary.
Note: The counter weight needs to be set for the proper penetration. DO NOT set the counter weight
unnecessarily heavy in order to address other issues that may keep the top wheel from lowering
properly.
