Changing a Roller or Drive Shaft
Note: When reassembling the rollers, use red Loctite® 271 on all of the regular nuts as well as on the
driver’s side entrance roller aluminum retainer nut and the bolt that holds the encoder shaft in
place. Also, when reassembling the shaft use anti seize on the drive shaft and on the splined
parts of the shafts that go into the bearings.)
Non-Driven (Idler) Rollers
1) Drive the machine to the center of the rails. See the image below.
Note: This will allow you to easily work without the head beam or legs impeding your space.
2) On each side of the machine there are two safety brackets. Located on the safety brackets,
there is a jack bolt next to the gusset, loosen the jam nuts and tighten the bolts down evenly
going from bracket to bracket until the roller is lifted off the rail. See the image below.

brackets in order to jack
the machine up evenly.
Note: On the passenger side of the machine, the carriage encoder gear fits onto a shaft that is slid into
the bearing.
3) Loosen the bolt that holds this shaft in place and remove the shaft, spacer and encoder gear.
