Changing a Roller or Drive Shaft
Non-Driven (Idler) Rollers
7) If you are changing the roller, reassemble the roller assembly with the new roller and put it
back on the machine.
If you are changing the bearing, take the roller spacer off the old bearing, and attach it to the
new bearing and then reassemble the roller assembly completely.

Note: Be sure to follow all of the installation procedures as described in the General repairs section of
this chapter.
8) Make sure that when you reattach the encoder shaft into the bearing to put the shaft spacer
back onto the shaft. Apply red Loctite® 271 to the flange bolt that holds the shaft and tighten
down to the proper tightening torque shown on the chart on page 3-1 of this manual.

9) Attach the non-driven roller assembly to the machine. Then evenly lower the machine back
onto the rail by alternately loosening both of the jack bolts until no part of the bolts are sticking
below the safety bracket, then tighten the jam nuts down.
