            Chapter 3 General Repairs


            Drive Motor

                   To remove a Drive Motor:

               Note:  It is necessary to remove the middle drive shaft from the machine.
               1)  Loosen the collar clamps and slide the shaft down off the machine. See the image below.

                                                                               Retrieve key and set
                                                                               it aside for now

               Note:  Take care not to drop the keys out of the collar and lose them.
               2)  Shut the power off to the machine

                     Unwire the motor from the machine taking note of which wire goes to which terminal.
               Note:  The lines have little white numbers 1, 2, or 3 on them and the terminals have a U1, V1, or W1
                       label next to them.

               3)  Now you can loosen the nuts that attach the motor/gearbox to the torque arm and remove the
                   bolts and Washers. See the image below.

               Note:  The motor should rest on top of this torque arm.
                     Slide the motor off the drive shaft and take it down to the ground.

               Note:  It may be necessary to loosen the bolts that clamp the bumper together in order to loosen the
                       angle on the torque arm to ease the sliding.
