Replacing a Motor/Gearbox Assembly
At some point during the operation of the FreeStyler®, one of the six motors on the machine may fail.
In this section we will explain the removal and replacement of the motors.
Wheel Motors
To remove a Wheel Motor:
1) Shut the power off
Unwire the motor taking note of which wires go to which terminals,
Note: The lines have little white numbers 1, 2, or 3 on them and the terminals have a U1, V1, or W1
label next to them.
Remove the cotter pins and pull the motor off the arm. See the image below.
Note: Take care in not dropping the key that goes through the motor.
2) Put anti-seize on the shaft where the motor slides back onto the machine.
Apply Anti-Seize Here
Slide the motor back onto the shaft (Do not forget the key).
3) Rewire the motor and put the cotter pins back in place.
4) Test the wheels to make sure they turn in the correct direction.
Note: See the startup procedure in the installation manual for proper direction of rotation.
