Each cowherd's home is surrounded by an impassable jewel wall
with many jewel entrance-ways and many gates studded with pearls
and other jewels.

yän ékñamäëä nigadanti bhüyo
vimäna-väsän iti martya-lokäù
vaikuëöha-väsän iti näka-näthäù
vaikuëöha-gäs te rasa-sära-säram

yan—which; ékñamäëäù—seeing; nigadanti—say; bhüyaù—again;
vimänah—of the demigods; väsän—homes; iti—thus; martya-lokäù-the
earth residents; vaikuëöha—of Vaikuëöha; väsän—the homes; iti—thus;
näka-näthäù—the demigods; vaikuëöa-gäù—the residents of Vaikuëöha;
te—they; rasa—of nectar; sära—of the best; säram—the best.

Seeing these cowherd men's homes, human beings proclaim them
more wonderful than the residences of the demigods, demigods
proclaim them more wonderful than the residences in Vaikuëöha,
and the Vaikuëöha-väsés proclaim them more wonderful than the
sweetest nectar.

purohitänäà ca purohitänäà
tataù pareñäà ca tataù pareñäà

puraù—before; pratéhära-varasya—of the doorkeeper; yasyäù—of which;
samantataù—on all sides; parçva—yugasya—of both sides; rasyaù—
pleasant residences; purhitänäm—of priests; ca—also; purohitänäm—
priests; tataù—after; pareñäm—of others; ca—and; tataù—after;
pareñäm—of others.

Within the walls of each cowherd man's compound were the homes
of a gatekeeper, priests, and other associates.
