c. Place the steering knuckle, adjusting shim, thrust ball IN
bearing onto the mounting position of the front axle,
align the steering knuckle king pin holes. DI
d. Measure the clearance between steering knuckle and
front axle. Choose suitable adjusting shims, to make the
clearance meet the criterion. EG
Standard value: <0.10mm
Limit: 0.3mm
Caution TR
The quantity of adjusting shim to be mounted shall
not be more than 2.
9. Installing the steering knuckle king pin AX
a. Apply the lubricating grease on the contact areas on
both the steering knuckle king pin and the sleeve.
b. Use a brass rod to tap the king pin gently into the holes FR
on the steering knuckle and the king pin hole.
Caution
Align the slot on the steering knuckle king pin with the ST
locking pin hole on the front axle before mounting. Do
not mount the steering knuckle king pin, do not reverse BR
both ends of the king pin when mounting.
c. Make the flat part of the locking latch for the steering
BW
knuckle king pin face the slotted surface of the steering
knuckle king pin.
d. Install the locking latch for the steering knuckle king EL
pin into the latching hole on the front axle.
e. Use a brass rod to tap the locking latch for the steering
knuckle king pin gently into its mounting position
f. Mount the spring washer and the fixing bolts onto the
locking latch for the steering knuckle king pin.
g. Tighten the fixing nut for the locking latch.
Torque: 70~100N•m
h. Attach the spring scale to the end of the steering
knuckle, check if the measured force needed for the
steering knuckle starting to move meet the reference
value.
Starting torque: <20N
