ST-46 Steering System- Power Steering

Steering Device Assembly

Check and repair

1. Discharge the steering oil (refer “Chapter BW steering system-power steering-steering oil, replacement”)

2. Tilt the driver cab. Remove the locking bolts
connecting the cross shaft on the intermediate
steering shaft and steering gear (refer to “Chapter
BW Steering System -Steering Mechanism-
Intermediate steering shaft, Maintenance”)

3. Disconnect the connection between the steering
drag link and the steering gear pitman arm (refer to
“Chapter BW Steering System -Steering Mechanism-
Steering Links, Replacement”)

4. Remove the steering gear assembly
a. Remove the swivel bolt for the high and low pressure
oil tubes connector of the steering gear, disconnect the
high and low pressure steel tubes of the steering gear, and

Remove the composite gaskets.
Caution
Once oil tube is disconnected, the end of oil tube and
steering gear oil port shall be sealed by using plug
covers to prevent from ingression of dust or other
foreign matters that may degrade the performance of

the steering system.
b. Remove the fixing bolts for the multi-pass connector
bracket of the braking lines, and fix the multi-pass tube
bracket onto the vehicle frame or the driver cab.
