AX-6 Axles, Transmission Shafts - Transmission Shaft
Check on car
The maintenance of the transmission shaft is mainly to check the vibration of the transmission shaft to
find out the cause of the vibration and correct it.
1. Check if transmission shaft flange connection is tight
a. Check whether the fixing bolts and nuts connecting the flange of the transmission shaft and the rear axle are
tightened to the specified torque.
b. Check whether the fixing bolts and nuts connected with flange of transmission shaft and transmission are
tightened to the specified torque.
Torque: 120~130N•m
2. Check whether the teeth engagement of end face of transmission shaft flange is correct
a. If the engagement is incorrect, it should be re-installed.
b. If it is impossible to engage, the flange should be replaced.
3. Check whether the universal joint is assembled
according to the markings
a. Failure to assemble in accordance with the markings
may result in imbalance of the transmission shaft and
large vibration.
4. Check the transmission shaft for bend and deformation
a. Visual inspection of the bending of the transmission
shaft is inaccurate and the bending should be
measured with a dedicated measuring gauge. (See
"Chapter AX Axles, Transmission Shafts - Transmission
Shaft - Transmission Shaft, Service")
5. Check the axial clearance of cross shaft
a. Shake the flange fork up and down to check the axial
clearance of the cross shaft. If the clearance exceeds the
limit, replace the cross shaft assembly.
Axial clearance of cross shaft: 0.03mm
Limit: 0.35mm
