AX-26                         Axles, Transmission Shafts - Front Axle

              Front axle
              Change
              1. Park the vehicle on a steady ground, enable the parking brake, and place the triangular wood in the
              rear wheel position

              2. Use two jacks to lift the front of the car, then place two brackets or the safety stool in the proper
              position on the frame, and slowly lower the jack to put the weight on the safety stool or bracket.
                                                           Caution
              Loosen the nut of front wheel with the nut wrench before lifting the vehicle.

              3. Use a horizontal jack placed under the front axle, jack the front axle, with both sides of the tires off
              the ground
              4. Remove the fixing nuts of the left and right front wheel and remove front wheel

              5. Remove the left and right front brake chamber assembly (see chapter BR "Brake system - Service
              Brake (air pressure) - Front brake chamber, Maintenance")
              6. Remove the left and right front wheel hub assembly (See Chapter AX Axles, Transmission Shafts -
              Front Axle / Front Drive Axle - Front Axle - Front Wheel Hub, Service)
              7. Remove the left and right front brake assembly (see chapter BR "Brake system - Service Brake (air
              pressure) - Front wheel brake, Replacement")
              8.  Remove  the  left  and  right  front  steering  knuckle  assembly  (See  "Chapter  ST  Steering  System  -
              Steering Mechanism - Steering knuckle, Maintenance")

                                                          9. Remove front axle assembly

                                                          a. Remove the u-bolt fixing nut of front plate spring, take
                                                          off  the  u-bolt  of  front  plate  spring,  the  front  shock
                                                          absorber lower bracket, the front bumper block.
                                                                                  Caution
                                                          Do not damage the thread when dismounting




              b. Lower the horizontal jack slowly and pull out the front axle assembly from the bottom of the vehicle.
                                                          10. Check the kingpin hole of the front axle steering
                                                          knuckle

                                                          a. Measure the inner diameter of knuckle hole at several
                                                          points  on  a  plane  perpendicular  to  the  axis.  If  the
                                                          clearance  between  kingpin  and  pin  hole  is  greater  than
                                                          the wear limit  or if the  knuckle  king  pin  hole is  out  of
                                                          round,  repair  should  be  performed  and  the  oversized
                                                          knuckle king pin should be used.

                                                          Repair standard: 0.021~0.054mm
                                                          Wearing limit: 0.35mm
