AX-54 Axles, Transmission Shafts - Rear Axle

Change
1. Remove the rear axle final reducer assembly

a. Drain the rear axle gear oil. (See Chapter AX Axles,
Transmission Shafts - Rear Axle / Rear Axle - Rear Axle
- Gear Oil, Replacement)
b. Disconnect transmission shaft assembly from rear axle.

c. Remove the axle shaft on both sides of the rear axle. (See Chapter AX Axles, Transmission Shafts - Rear
Axle / Rear Shaft - Rear Axle - Rear Axle Shaft , Service)

d. Lift the rear axle final reducer assembly slightly with
horizontal jack, remove the fixing bolts of the rear axle
main reducer assembly.
Torque:

Model 16 T 165~195N•m
Model 22T, 25T 146~205N•m

Caution

After removing the bolts, with the help of the
horizontal jack, pull the rear axle final reducer
assembly up and down. After the rear axle final
reducer assembly is separated from the rear axle
housing, remove the rear axle final reducer.

Danger
Due to the rear axle final reducer assembly is heavy,
protective measures should be taking while removing,

and pay attention to personal safety.
2. Install the rear axle final reducer assembly, by following the disassembly steps in a reverse order and
pay attention to the following

a. Apply sealant to the contact surface between the differential and reducer assembly and the rear axle
housing.
