1 ïÖê, “then,” denotes the past, whereas þ−ÌLÖ− is in the future tense. It should therefore have said íÓ¾ÒôþÖLïÖê. Onkelos,
Ibn Ezra, Ramban, et al. translate it simply in the past tense. Rashi disagrees. 2 Hence þ−ÌLÖ−ïÖê means: “Then he was
inspired to sing.” 3 Yehoshua 10, 12. 4 I Melachim 7, 8. 5 The fact that the verse later tells us that he did so 19 Nechemyah 9, 19. Whereby, when the ’í is dropped, the ’ñ receives the vowel of the ’í. 20 Devarim 1, 33.
indicates that þ−ÌLÖ−ïÖê refers to the inspiration to do so. (S.) 6 I.e., Ô¼ŠLBíÐ−þÑaÔðÐ−ïÖê, quoted earlier. 7 Where God threw 21 óÖ³BìÐòÔíÐñ, being in the ñ−̼ÐõÌí (causative) form, denotes the causing of someone else to do. Thus, God leads them

9 Bamidbar 21, 17. 10 Thus they are now told to sing, though it says earlier ñÑêÖþÐNÌ−þ−ÌLÖ−ïÖê, thereby showing that it means that God, Himself, led the cloud which, in turn, led them. 23 L−ÌôÖ−êñ, (rather than LeôÖ−êñ) is in the ñ−¼õí
þ−ÌLÖ−ïÖê means: “Then their heart told them to sing.” 11 I Melachim 11, 7. 12 And not the actual deed. 13 I.e., (causative) form. Therefore, it refers to God. Had it said ¾eôÖ−êñ it would be in the ñÔš form and would mean: “the
